Game 1

In goal for Strathroy was Ben Thomas and between the pipes for the Blast WIN was John Faulkner.  It was an exciting and bone crunching game, with the Blast giving as well as taking the body this game.  It looks like it will be a physical series, much like the match-up last season.  Before an announced crowd of 382, the vocal Blast fans made their presence known with voices and all manner of noise makers.

1st Period:  Sarnia took the first minor of the period, a roughing call to Brent Andriash who put one too many body checks on a Rocket player.  During the final minute of the penalty, Sarnia's Tyler Cicchini had a great chance at a short-handed marker but his shot was stopped.  Slashing was the call at the nine  minute mark that put Clark MacPherson of the Blast in the sin bin for a two minute time out.  Then a bit of jawing and pushing 42 seconds later led to unsportsmanlike conduct minors to Carter Gray of Strathroy and Sarnia's Owen Rogers.  Strathroy struck first with a power play goal at 10:39 that came off the stick of Kraig Wright from Kyle Greenside and Eric Beauchamp.  While play was taking place in Strathroy's end, a Blast player was upended by Dan Grant of the Rockets who went off to serve a minor for tripping at the 16:15 mark.  It took 45 seconds before Tyler Lewis tied up the score with a power play goal for the Blast.  Assisting on the goal were Matt Abercrombie and Josh Cornelissen.  Sarnia would begin the 2nd period a man short as Clark MacPherson went off at 19:21 for high sticking.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 14   Sarnia - 14.  Strathroy was 1 for 3 with the man advantage and Sarnia was 1 for 2 on the power play this period.

2nd Period:  The Blast completed another successful penalty kill and then found themselves on the power play at the four minute mark when Mark Aris of the Rockets went off for tripping.  The Blast capitalized with the man advantage  33 seconds later on another Tyler Lewis goal and picking up assists were Tyler Cicchini and Matt Abercrombie.  Strathroy found themselves in penalty trouble when Mark Aris took a 10 minute misconduct before play resumed, arguing a call with the official.  Boarding was the minor at 4:56 that put Joey Beauchamp of the Rockets in the sin bin and about four minutes later found himself also taking a 10 minute break from the action as he was called for "inciting an opponent".  At the 10:20 mark Clark MacPherson of Sarnia went off for a two minute break in the sin bin when he was called for hooking.  During this penalty kill, Tyler Cicchini of the Blast had yet another glorious short-handed attempt but skated past the net while trying to control the puck.  Roughing was the call at 14:05 that put Strathroy's Eric Beauchamp in the penalty box.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 12/26 and Sarnia was also 12/26.  The Rockets were 0 for 1 with the man advantage and Sarnia was 1 for 3 on the power play this period.

3rd Period:  It got very rough during this 20 minutes of play but the Blast gave as good as they received but they began by padding their lead with another goal.  This one came at the 7:56 mark and was scored by Matt Abercrombie from Tyler Lewis.  Things began to get very scrappy from this point and with the play deep in Sarnia's end, Wayd Pitfield of the Blast was called for hooking at the 8:44 mark.  A roughing minor was taken by Patrick Easter of the Rockets at 9:03 after he gave Faulkner an extra shove once the play had been whistled dead.  Just 56 seconds later, Thomas Policelli was given a five minute checking from behind major (along with a game misconduct) for laying out Eric Beauchamp.  His brother Joey Beauchamp also spent some time resting on the ice when he took a cross check from Sarnia's Josh Cornelissen at the 12 minute mark.  After playing a man short for just over two minutes during the Policelli major, the Blast then found themselves two men short for an entire two minutes of the Cornelissen minor.   The boyz in white won face-offs, cleared the puck, gave Faulkner plenty of opportunity to see the puck and he in turn stopped everything that came his way.  To the relief of those vocal Blast fans who made the trip, the penalty kill did an awesome job!.  Sarnia did get one chance at the power play and it came with 4:30 remaining as Jared Anger was called for the high stick.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 13/39   Sarnia - 4/30.  Strathroy was 0 for 3 with the man advantage this period and were 1 for 7 in the game.  Sarnia was 0 for 1 on the power play this period and were 2 for 5 in the game.

Game 2

A few pre-game activities started the night beginning recognition of the Sarnia Jr. Sting Major PeeWee A team who have had a very successful year.  It was announced they had entered six tournaments, winning five of them and were a finalist in the sixth.  Then goaltender John Faulkner was honoured.  At the league banquet he was named as goaltender for the first team.  Presenting him with his trophy was goalie coach Daryl Lennan.  The Blast's announcer, Glenn MacKinnon then asked for a moment of silence to honour the memory of Windsor Spitfire captain Mickey Renaud who passed away on Monday the 18th.  Then it was time for the national anthem and game on.  In goal for Strathroy was Ben Thomas and between the pipes for the Blast was John Faulkner. Attendance for this game was given as 530.

1st Period:  Sarnia midget call up Travis Mullen began the period in the penalty box, taking a 10 minute misconduct for crossing the red line.  The game got physical early on both sides.  Offsetting unsportsmanlike conducts were given out at 11:13 to Shaun Furlong of Strathroy and Sarnia's Tyler Lewis.  A hooking minor at 14:05 put Brady Vandenberk of the Rockets in the sin bin for two minutes.  Tripping was the call at 18:36 that put Sarnia's Wayd Pitfield in the penalty box for a two minute time out.  At the end of the period, a bit of shoving led to roughing minors given to Jason Furlong of the Rockets and to Brent Andriash of the Blast.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 16   Sarnia - 7.  Both teams were 0 for 1 with the man advantage this period.

2nd Period:  Strathroy opened the scoring with a marker at 2:14 off the stick of Tyler Carroll from Shaun Furlong and Jason Furlong.  Although no further scoring took place both teams had some good chances with the Blast having a couple of open net chances but unable to pull the trigger.  A roughing minor at 2:41 sent Carter Gray of Strathroy to the penalty box and with 17 seconds remaining on his penalty found he had company when team mate Jared Anger was called for slashing.  A tripping minor at 10:19 put Sarnia's Alex Avery off the ice for a two minute cooling off period.  The Rockets took two almost back-to-back penalties in the form of a roughing minor at 12:24 to Eric Beauchamp and a holding penalty at 14:18 to Jason Furlong.  A bit of scrum after a good save by Thomas resulted in roughing after the whistle penalties given to Jared Anger of Strathroy and Sarnia's Derek VanVeller.  With 1.1 seconds remaining in the period, Sarnia's Jon Conrad was called for slashing resulting in a power play chance for the next period.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 15/31   Sarnia - 13/20.  Strathroy was 0 for 1 with their man advantage (the other would take place in the next period) and Sarnia was 0 for 4 on the power play this period.

3rd Period:  The Rockets took 26 seconds to take a two goal lead with a power play goal off the stick of Shaun Furlong from Jared Anger and Jason Furlong.   Getting one back at 2:42 on an unassisted marker was Chris McGuffin who picked up the puck on a turnover, took it in and fired it home.  The Rockets then scored three unanswered goals and secured a tie in the series beginning with a Mark Aris goal at 5:40 with an assist to Dan Chadwick.  Sarnia's Clark MacPherson went off at 9:40 for a hooking minor and the Blast successfully killed that penalty.  They then found themselves on the power play when Carter Gray was called for delay of game as he carried the puck around on his person.  Before play would resume, Strathroy took a time out.  There were 17 seconds remaining with the man advantage when Strathroy scored a short-handed marker as Kraig Wright fed a pass to Joey Beauchamp who beat a moving Faulkner.  The scoring was completed at the 16:27 mark as Shaun Furlong notched his second of the night with assists going to Andrew Secco and Jason Furlong.  A roughing minor at 17:27 sent Eric Beauchamp off to the sin bin to the delight of many Blast fans but Sarnia was not able to get anything further behind Thomas.  Offsetting roughing penalties were taken with 1:41 remaining and off the sin bin went Strathroy's Joey Beauchamp while Sarnia's Kyle Gallinger hit the showers early.  There was 49 seconds left in the game and the play deep in Strathroy's end when the only tilt of the night took place.  Exchanging blows were Carter Grey of the Rockets who battled Sarnia's Chris McGuffin.  Each received the mandatory five minute fighting major and a game misconduct.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 19/50   Sarnia - 11/31.  Strathroy was 1 for 2 with the man advantage this period and were 1 for 4 in the game.  Sarnia was 0 for 2 on the power play this period and were 0 for 7 in the game.

Game 3

In goal for Strathroy was Ben Thomas and between the pipes for the Blast WIN was John Faulkner. It was a well attended game with 633 listed as the attendance.

1st Period:  Sarnia came out of the gate flying with speed and throwing hits every chance they got.  It paid dividends early with a Derek VanVeller goal just 3:42 into the period.  Picking up assists were Matt Abercrombie and Jordan Black - an AP junior.   It began with some hard work by Black who carried the puck into the zone lost then reacquired possession of the puck, keeping it in the Rockets end.  The Blast took a two goal lead 58 seconds later on a Tyler Peters goal and picking up an assist was Tyler Cicchini.  Strathroy used a time out to try and settle the team down and then the faceoff took place at center ice.  Derek VanVeller of the Blast was called for high sticking at the 7:21 mark and most of the play took place in Strathroy's end.  It was a great penalty kill by Sarnia.  A cross checking penalty was taken by Strathroy's Andrew Secco at the 12:134 mark.  It took all of 17 seconds before Tyler Lewis potted the third Sarnia goal this period.  Assisting on the goal were Matt Abercrombie and Josh Cornelissen.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 13   Sarnia - 8.  Strathroy was 0 for 1 with the man advantage and Sarnia was 1 for 1 on the power play this period.

2nd Period:  It was a penalty filled period with plenty of scoring chances for both teams but nothing went past either tender.  Sarnia took the first minor of this 20 minutes of play, a cross checking penalty at 2:36 to Kyle Gallinger.  Then at 7:09 off went Sarnia's Jon Conrad for interference.  The Rockets put some pressure during this PP but the Blast were just that much better.  Strathroy's Dan Grant took a minor for cross checking at the 10:32 mark as a result of putting Sarnia's Tyler Cicchini into the boards.  Sarnia enjoyed 35 seconds of a five on three power play when Tyler Carroll of Strathroy was called for cross checking at the 11:57 mark.  Sarnia made a bad line change at 13:59 and were called for too many men.  Serving the penalty was Adam Steadman.  During the penalty kill, Faulkner lost his stick for a short while but was able to retrieve it when his teammates cleared the puck closer to Sarnia's blue line.  The Rockets got to enjoy a two man advantage when Sarnia's Clark MacPherson went off at 15:30 for high sticking.  Roughing was the call at 16:26 that gave a two minute time out to Kraig Wright of Strathroy.  With 17 seconds remaining in the period, Sarnia's Clark MacPherson was given a minor for checking from behind along with a game misconduct.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 15/28   Sarnia - 9/17.

3rd Period:  The Rockets got on the scoreboard with a power play goal 43 seconds in as a result of the MacPherson penalty at the end of the second period.  Scoring it was Tyler Carroll from Dan Grant and Jared Anger.  Treks to the sin bin began with an elbowing call at 6:21 and off to serve two minutes was Strathroy's Jared Anger.  A roughing minor at 9:17 sent Sarnia's Josh Cornelissen to the penalty box and during this penalty Sarnia's Craig Rainsberry led a short-handed rush, passing the puck to Wayd Pitfield whose shot was stopped.  Play was stopped after this rush as a holding penalty was taken by Dan Grant of the Rockets at the 11:16 mark.  Sarnia found themselves with 1:32 of a two man advantage when Strathroy's Eric Beauchamp was given a two minute minor for checking from behind, and a game misconduct.  Offsetting roughing minors were taken at 14:30 by Jared Anger of Strathroy and Chris McGuffin of the Blast.  A slashing call at 17:20 put Sarnia's Owen Rogers in the penalty box and Strathroy struck for another power play goal just eight seconds later.  Scoring the goal was Tyler Carroll from Jason Furlong and Shaun Furlong.  Sarnia took another penalty late in the period putting the Rockets on the power play yet again.  Going off for high sticking was Tyler Lewis of the Blast.  Most of these penalties were taken in Strathroy's end as Sarnia kept dumping the puck our of their end but too often it ended up as icing. The faceoff was just outside Sarnia's blue line and once the Rockets had possession of the puck deep in Sarnia's end, the Rockets pulled their goaltender for an extra attacker giving Strathroy 6 skaters to Sarnia's 4.  The Rockets pressed for the equalizer and as a result another pair of penalties were taken.  With 7.6 seconds remaining, making their way to the sin bin were Strathroy's Joey Beauchamp (roughing) and Sarnia's Brent Andriash (cross checking).  As Blast fans waited with bated breath and the faceoff deep in Sarnia's end again, the seconds finally ticked off and the celebration of the win began, almost.  First,  there was one more penalty called as the play finished - a 10 minute misconduct for inciting an opponent to Sarnia's Tyler Lewis.  Then the officials made sure that the Strathroy players went to their dressing room so that nothing further took place between the two teams.  Finally, the Blast players were permitted to leave the bench, surrounding Faulkner and congratulating each other.  As they skated off to their dressing room they were showered with the loud applause and appreciation of the Blast fans who had made the trek.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 11/39  Sarnia - 4/21.  Strathroy was 2 for 3 with the man advantage this period and were 2 for 9 in the game.  Sarnia was 0 for 3 on the power play this period and were 1 for 7 in the game.

Game 4

It was a very noisy crowd of 625 at the Brock Street Barn and it stayed that way throughout the game.  In goal for Strathroy was Ben Thomas and between the pipes for the Blast was John Faulkner.

1st Period:  Sarnia found themselves in penalty trouble early in the game with a bench minor for too many men just 51 seconds in and serving it was Matt Abercrombie.  The Blast had two good short-handed chances.  Owen Roger carried the puck into the Rockets zone, accompanied by team mate Craig Rainsberry and let go a shot that was wide at the 1:20 mark and then one minute later, Tyler Cicchini led a rush up the ice but Thomas made the save.  Going off at 3:23 for high sticking was Sarnia's Josh Cornelissen and the Rockets made them pay for it with a power play goal at the 5:02 mark off the stick of Kraig Wright from Brady Vandenberk and Andrew Secco.  Four penalties were taken over a span of 1:33 beginning with a tripping minor at 7:03 to Strathroy's Jared Anger which was the same call at 7:25 that put Sarnia's Tyler Peters in the sin bin 22 seconds later.  Then at 7:56 off went Matt Abercrombie of the Blast for interference.  That was the same call at 8:36 that put Dan Chadwick in the sin bin.  With the Rockets playing 4 on 3 hockey, they struck for another power play goal at the 9:19 mark.  This one was scored by Tyler Carroll from Andrew Secco and Brady Vandenberk.  The Rockets increased their lead again at 11:02 with a goal by Patrick Easter with assists to Kraig Wright and Jared Anger.  Sarnia took a time out after this goal.  An elbowing call at 11:28 put Shaun Furlong of the the Rockets into the bin bin and Sarnia responded with a power play goal of their own.  Sending a hard shot past Thomas was Tyler Lewis and picking up assists were Tyler Cicchini and Matt Abercrombie.  Offsetting roughing minors were called at 14:06 after a bit of pushing took place between Shaun Furlong of Strathroy and Tyler Cicchini of the Blast.  The final penalty of the period was a slashing minor at 16:10 to Kraig Wright of the Rockets.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 22   Sarnia - 9.  Strathroy was 2 for 4 with the man advantage and Sarnia was 1 for 4 on the power play this period.

2nd Period:  A hooking minor at the six minute mark found Sarnia's Brent Andriash making his way to the sin bin and 57 seconds later Strathroy made it a three goal lead on a Dan Grant marker from Shaun Furlong.  Sarnia then began a mini trek to the sin bin as Thomas Policelli went off at 12:13 for boarding and joining him was Jon Conrad who picked up a 10 minute misconduct.  Tripping was called at 15:42 to Sarnia's Josh Cornelissen and the Blast were successful on the penalty kill.  With two seconds left in the period Dan Grant of Strathroy was called for hooking and when the puck was dropped, Sarnia had pulled goaltender Faulkner.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 17/39  Sarnia - 8/17.  Strathroy was 1 for 3 with the man advantage this period and Sarnia was 0 for 1 as they didn't convert in the third period.

3rd Period:  Sarnia came out this period skating and hitting and as a result, Strathroy's Joey Beauchamp was called for unsportsmanlike conduct for taking a fall too easily at the 2:23 mark.  Although the Blast didn't score on that power play chance they did begin to put more shots on net and spend time in Strathroy's end.  The next penalty also went to Strathroy and was a slashing minor at 7:19 to Shaun Furlong.  The Rockets seemed to put the game out of reach with their fifth of the night at 12:48 off the stick of Kyle Greenside from Patrick Easter and Jared Anger.  Sarnia got one back just 13 seconds later when Tyler Lewis potted his second of the night.  The lone assist went to Clark MacPherson.  Just a couple of minutes later, the first bout took place between veteran Kraig Wright of the Rockets and Sarnia rookie Clark MacPherson near center ice.  It took only 25 seconds before round number two took place near our blue line and having an early exit from the game with 4:02 remaining were two players each wearing #20 on their sweaters, Eric Beauchamp for Strathroy and Tyler Lewis of the Blast.  The third and final bout was four seconds later and taking it to Strathroy's Jason Furlong was Sarnia's Owen Rogers who was no slouch although giving up over 3 inches in height difference.  Sarnia went on the power play for the third time this period when a holding call put Dan Grant of the Rocket in the sin bin.  Wiring a hard shot from the right wing for a power play goal was Tyler Cicchini that lit the lamp for the home team.  Picking up assists were Scott Stafford and Matt Abercrombie.  With 1:15 remaining in the period and the play deep in Rockets territory, Sarnia pulled Faulkner for an extra attacker.  During the final 47 seconds of the game, Sarnia would have six skaters to Strathroy's four as Joey Beauchamp was given a four minute spearing penalty.  The Blast applied plenty of pressure and shots but could not get anything further behind Thomas.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 11/50   Sarnia - 16/33.  Strathroy had no power play chances this period and were 3 for 7 in the game.  Sarnia was 1 for 4 with the man advantage this period and were 2 for 9 in the game.

Game 5

In goal for Strathroy was Ben Thomas and between the pipes for the Blast was John Faulkner.  The crowd was announced as 575 which included many Blast faithful making the trek on a snowy and blustery evening.

1st Period:  There was plenty of end-to-end action but the Blast seemed to spend more time in their own end then in the offensive end.  Goaltender interference was called at 10:46 and going off to serve his two minutes was Patrick Easter of the Rockets.  Although the Blast applied plenty of pressure, and the lamp for a goal was lit, nothing was actually put behind Thomas during the power play.  Strathroy went on the power play at 12:42 when Thomas Policelli was called for tripping up Strathroy's Tyler Carroll as he was going in alone on Faulkner.  The Rockets got on the scoreboard with a PP goal at 14:08 off the stick of Andrew Secco from Dan Chadwick.  Chadwick won the face-off, got the puck to Secco who one timed it from just inside the blue line.  Offsetting minors were handed out with 25 seconds remaining in the period and starting off the second period in the sin bin were Tyler Carroll (slashing) of Strathroy and Sarnia's Thomas Policelli (roughing after the whistle).  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 13   Sarnia - 9.  The Rockets were 1 for 1 with the man advantage this period and Sarnia as 0 for 1 on the power play.

2nd Period:  A period of play with plenty of penalties and scoring chances and one single goal scored - on the power play.  Heading for the showers early was Tyler Lewis who took a checking from behind minor just 41 seconds into the period and since it carries a game misconduct, Tyler watched the rest of the game as a spectator.  Strathroy enjoyed 41 seconds of a two man advantage when Tyler Cicchini of the Blast went off at the two minute mark for tripping. That was the same minor taken at 6:08 that sent Carter Gray of Strathroy to the sin bin.  Then at 8:44 Jared Anger of Strathroy went off for hauling down Scott Stafford of the Blast and ten seconds later the Blast tied up the game with a power play goal of their own. Scoring the goal was Matt Abercrombie with assists to Tyler Cicchini and Josh Cornelissen.  Sarnia went on the power play once again when a holding minor was taken by Jared Anger of Strathroy at the 12:05 mark but it was short lived as Owen Rogers went off 23 seconds later on a cross checking call.  Sarnia's Jon Conrad gave Strathroy yet another PP chance this period going off at 15:59 for high sticking.  A tripping penalty put  Andrew Secco of Strathroy off at 16:19 and he was joined by team mate Dan Grant at 17:52 who took a penalty for kneeing a Blast player along the boards.  This gave Sarnia a brief 20 seconds of five on three play but were not successful in getting anything further past Thomas. Trying to prevent Joey Beauchamp from scoring as he went in alone on Faulkner, Tyler Peters took chase and was given a holding minor with 30 seconds remaining in the period.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 11/24   Sarnia - 10/19.  Strathroy was 0 for 5 with the man advantage and Sarnia was 1 for 5 on the power play this period.

3rd Period:  Both teams came out pressing for a goal but during the final two minutes of play, Sarnia found themselves hemmed in their own end more often than not.  Reminiscent of game seven from last season with scrambled play in front of Faulkner and failure to clear the puck (after some icing calls) led to a goal late in the period.  Notching the winner with 35 seconds remaining for the home team was Joe Pikul from Joey Beauchamp and Dan Chadwick.  Sarnia did have some good chances, especially on their two power play opportunities.  The first came 42 seconds in when Tyler Carroll was called for tripping.  Sarnia's Tyson Isaac (an AP Junior callup) went off at 7:23 for roughing and picked up a 10 minute call for "inciting an opponent" namely trying to get Joey Beauchamp to go a round with with but Beauchamp refused the offer.  John Faulkner was out playing the puck when he was upended by Patrick Easter of the Rockets who was given two minutes for tripping with 5:56 remaining.  Unfortunately for Blast fans, Sarnia enjoyed the full two minutes of the man advantage, getting a few shots on goal but not lighting the lamp.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 13/37   Sarnia - 6/25.  Strathroy was 0 for 1 with the man advantage this period and were 1 for 7 in the game.  Sarnia was 0 for 2 on the power play this period and were 1 for 8 in the game.

Game 6

In goal for Strathroy was Ben Thomas and between the pipes for the Blast was John Faulkner.  The crowd was announced at 873 and the noisy Blast fans left the game disappointed that their team had not managed to win one game at home in this series.  It was a noisy bunch that attended the game, both Sarnia and Strathroy fans encouraging their teams with all manner of instruments of noise making.  Some outstanding saves were made by Faulkner and Thomas stood tall in net for his team when called upon to make some timely saves.  It was a hard fought series and the Blast would not go away as easily as some had thought, considering the young age of the players of this team.  They played gamely and the win did not come easily.  Well done, gentlemen.

1st Period:  A cross checking penalty was taken 22 seconds in by Strathroy's Tyler Carroll as a result of applying his stick to Scott Stafford.  Sarnia responded with a power play goal at 1:06 off the stick of Tyler Peters who was fed a pass through the crease from Matt Abercrombie on the right wing.  Also picking up an assist was Tyler Cicchini. Sarnia's Chris McGuffin went off at 14:31 for roughing and Strathroy made it a 1-1 game 28 seconds into their power play with a marker off the stick of Jared Anger from Kyle Greenside and Patrick Easter.  Both teams played with less physical presence during this 20 minutes of play but there was penalty of action in both ends.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 12   Sarnia - 10.  Each team was 1 for 1 with the man advantage this period.

2nd Period:  No scoring took place this period but each team had some glorious chances, especially when enjoying the man advantage, which occurred more often in this 20 minutes of play.  Going off at 1:25 for interference was Josh Cornelissen of the  Blast.  A tripping minor at 3:49 put Jared Anger of Strathroy in the sin bin after hauling down Sarnia's Tyler Peters as he was going in on net .  At 6:21 it was Sarnia's Clark MacPherson off for slashing but Strathroy enjoyed the man advantage until the 7:37 mark when Rocket's Andrew Secco was called for holding - a result of trying to keep Tyler Cicchini of Sarnia from a scoring chance.  Slashing was the call at 10:49 that put Eric Beauchamp in the penalty box for a two minute time out and one minute later he was joined by team mate Dan Grant and Sarnia's Tyler Cicchini as each took a roughing minor - courtesy of a bit of scrum after play in Strathroy's end.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 9/21   Sarnia - 14/24.  Strathroy was 0 for 2 with the man advantage and Sarnia was 0 for 3 on the power play this period.

3rd Period:  Only one penalty taken this period and it was a hooking minor at 3:31 to Sarnia's Kyle Gallinger but the Blast managed a successful kill.  For most of this period, both teams had some great chances, but the goalie kept their teams in the game with some highlight reel saves.  Once again, a goal late in the period would win the game.  Scoring the game and series winning goal at 15:53 was Shaun Furlong from Jason Furlong and Tyler Carroll.  The Blast would press for the equalizer for the balance of the game, having some great opportunities including a couple of wide open sides.  With 64 seconds remaining and the face-off deep in Sarnia's end to the left of Faulkner, the Blast took a time out.  Eventually the Blast were able to get the puck out of their own end and Faulkner made his way to the bench for an extra attacker.  They had a few chances and one really good one with an open side and under five seconds to go put were unable to put the puck in the back of the net.  Much to the sorrow of the Blast fans, no further scoring took place and after the Rockets saluted their fans, the two teams made their way to center ice for the traditional end-of-series handshake.  Shots on goal:  Strathroy - 22/43   Sarnia - 8/32.  The Rockets were 1 with the man advantage this period and were 1 for 4 in the game.  Sarnia had no power play chances this period and were also 1 for 4 in the game.
